ラグビーはトップリーグを頂点として、関東、関西そして九州にそれぞれトップイースト、トップウエスト、トップキュウシュウという社会人チームがあります。関東ではトップイーストの１、２位が三菱重工相模原、東京ガスでした。
２７日（土）花園ラグビー場で、東京ガスチームはホンダヒートとトップリーグをかけてチャレンジマッチを行いました。私は東京ガスのチームドクターとして、花園のグランドに立ちました。
東ガスは残念ながら力及ばず敗退しましたが、かなり感動的な試合を見せてくれました。
ラグビーは１５人という大人数のスポーツであり、またぶつかり合うという格闘的要素も持っています。１５人がボールをつなぎ相手ゴールにトライするという過程には、お互いが信頼しあって、陣を進め、one for all、all for oneというラグビースピリットの元に美しいハーモニーを奏でます。
来シーズンは是非トップリーグ昇格を祈っています。
